Our membership ranges from attorneys with decades of experience to the city clerk that has to wear many hats in a smaller community. Whatever your job title or other responsibilities are, if you are charged with the task of answering those confounding questions regarding employee behavior, employment laws or how much to pay for a position, then this organization is for you!
IaPELRA is the state chapter of the National Public Employer Labor Relations Association (NPELRA). NPELRA offers an annual conference covering the full range of human resource issues facing the public employer. Additionally, certifications and special training are available on a variety of topics including collective bargaining.
IaPELRA also offers training and conference opportunities. Each year, we hold three meetings - an annual day and one half meeting in the fall, and single day meetings in the winter and spring. These conferences are held at various venues in the state in an effort to make traveling easier and more affordable. These conferences provide a valuable opportunity to meet your peers who share very similar experiences in other agencies or jurisdictions. I have found our entire membership to be extraordinarily friendly and open to sharing ideas that have worked for them.
IaPELRA also offers you access to our message board where you may get rapid feedback and answers to issues you may be confronting. Further, by participating in IaPELRA, you will be able to call or e-mail your peers directly to gain a tip or bounce around an idea. The benefits of membership can be boundless.

Also, if you have more questions, don't hesitate to contact me or a member of the IaPELRA Board of Directors. We look forward to meeting you.
